Cedric Grolet is a super popular bakery, largely because of its pastries, like their flower-shaped creations and realistic fruit-shaped pastries. It is quite an experience and clients have to wait in line here. We waited for 50 minutes. I wouldn’t call it a bakery, but rather a bread jeweler.
At this bakery, I bought a croissant, pain au chocolat, and a pain suisse. All of them looked very beautiful. The croissant had just come out of the oven — and nothing beats a fresh croissant — but it was also genuinely delicious.
The pain au chocolat was disappointing. The layers were stuck together, leaving large holes inside. It cost €6, so I didn’t think it was worth it.
The pain suisse looked very attractive and was fairly large, but I didn’t think the flavor justified the price. It wasn’t bad, but I’ve had much better — and this one cost €12!
They have 3 locations in paris, The Opera (where I have been), The Café and Le Meurice. At each location, you can find different items, so if you plan to visit, it's a good idea to check their website first. Making a reservation can also be helpful — that way, you’ll only have to wait in a very short line.
